Optimise machining of multiple parts with WorkNC MPM
Cutting several parts on one pallet, or in clamping devices on the machine table, can be highly productive, especially for machining electrodes. Sescoi's new WorkNC MPM (Multi Part Machining) module optimises and automates the programming of an array of parts in one set-up.
WorkNC MPM allows libraries of pallets and holders to be created, either defined directly as cuboids or cylinders from key dimensions, or by the importation of CAD models enabling simple and accurate representation of the fixturing.
Each individual part or electrode to be machined is first programmed in WorkNC, and then allocated a position on the predefined pallet. WorkNC MPM checks for conflicts between the tool definition and station number for each part, ensuring consistency during machining. Automatic optimisation of the toolpath across all the parts provides a simple means of fast and safe machining, defining clearance planes for rapid travel and machining across the whole array of components with each tool in turn, thereby minimising the number of tool changes and achieving the fastest cutter path.
Many engineering companies carry datum positions of parts and electrodes from the CAD model through each stage of manufacture. WorkNC MPM keeps control of datum positions from the pallet, through each holder to the part or electrode datum, enabling error proof and accurate machining.
WorkNC MPM has been created by Sescoi's development team to provide more tools for customers to increase their productivity, with software which is easy to use and targetted at the real problems facing engineers.
