Successful WorkNC Users Meeting in Germany

To coincide with celebrations marking the tenth year of supplying and supporting WorkNC CAM/CAD software in the German market, Sescoi GmbH held its 3rd WorkNC Users Meeting close to its offices near Frankfurt.

Sescoi now has 750 customers in Germany and thousands more worldwide, making WorkNC one of the most popular systems for toolmakers and mouldmakers. The event enabled 130 WorkNC customers to meet other users and members of the Sescoi team.

Werner Möller of Sescoi GmbH said, “The chance to exchange information and ideas is a very valuable exercise for our customers. Not only can they learn about new features and techniques in WorkNC, but we can also discover which requirements are particularly important to them, helping us to optimise our development programme.”

To encourage the exchange of information, the focus of the day was a series of moderated discussion groups covering topics which included feature recognition, 3-axis and 3+2 axis machining, 5-axis machining, WorkNC-CAD and WorkPLAN. Sescoi will use the information gathered to help it to formulate its development plans, which are always geared as closely as possible to the requirements of its customers.

Delegates also had the opportunity to preview WorkNC version 18. The chief developers from Sescoi’s French headquarters presented the new software showing some of the latest features, which include new roughing strategies for hard metal machining, holder collision avoidance, and optimised feature recognition. They were also able to see some of the improvements in 5-axis machining. The new modules now contain 5-axis impeller machining and 5-axis tube machining with lollipop and T cutters. Also making their debut at the Open House were new functions in WorkNC-CAD for closing complex holes, and Sescoi’s new EDM wire cutting module.
