WorkNC’s automatic milling of dental and medical devices on show at MEDTEC
WorkNC’s powerful capabilities for milling medical devices and its recently launched WorkNC Dental (Labs) software will be demo’d on the Sescoi booth (138) at the upcoming MEDTEC exhibition in Besançon France on 22-23rd April.
Sescoi is the software partner in a three-year collaborative project, with CETIM (le Centre technique des industries mécaniques) and other Sescoi partners, such as machine tool maker Mikron, who will also be present at the show, in the medical device and the precision mechanics sector.
The aim of the CETIM project, in which WorkNC software is playing an important part, is to optimize the use of 5-axis high speed machining for the manufacture of complex parts, including prototypes and short production runs of medical and dental implants, and surgical instruments.
Sescoi’s experience and knowledge of 5-axis high speed machining, which will be highlighted by Sescoi engineers at MEDTEC, will assist partners to investigate innovative manufacturing techniques. Implants and medical devices frequently require the use of difficult to machine materials, including titanium and cobalt based steels. The project partners will examine machinability and build a database of cutting tools, machining strategies, fixing methods and feeds and speeds to achieve the optimum cutting conditions for each material.
To manufacture implants and surgical instruments requires precision and the ability to machine complex geometry. 5-axis machining with WorkNC makes this achievable through its automatic high accuracy algorithms and its collision avoidance technology. Many of the powerful new functions in WorkNC V20, for a raft of applications, will also be demonstrated.
Sescoi officially launched WorkNC Dental (Labs version), its fully automatic, easy to use, dental CAM/CAD solution at this year’s IDS exhibition in Cologne causing a considerable stir within the dental lab industry. Capitalizing on Sescoi’s 20 years’ experience in developing easy to use, automatic CAM software, WorkNC DENTAL enables the easy, automatic machining of prosthetic appliances or structures with its assisted programming process and perfectly optimized toolpaths.
Not only are production cycle times greatly reduced, but also the high quality finish of the machined components means that no manual reworking is required. WorkNC DENTAL’s graphic interface, which is simple and easy to follow, has been specially designed for prosthetists and dental technicians who are not experts in machining technologies.
For those looking for a powerful 3D viewer, Sescoi will be giving away a trial version of WorkXPlore-3D, its high-speed collaborative 3D viewer and two-time award winning software which recent made industry news.
A range of medical and dental videos and sample parts will be on display to perfectly illustrate WorkNC’ extensive capabilities in the dental and medical devices arena to those companies already fully active, or hoping to improve their penetration, in this important growing sector.
